How to tell a good from a bad roller garage door?

Here we will look at the top 4 warning signs when purchasing a roller garage door.

1. Measurements

Does the door fit the shape? If you are buying from a warehouse or a company that has a poor or unknown reputation. Be sure to double check the measurements before and after purchasing to make sure that it is an exact fit. If these are out by the slightest margin, you may find yourself with a completely useless door! Do not assume that all companies will be operate competently.

2. Locks

Garage roller doors are always fitted with locks. Double check the lock, make sure it's sturdy and secure. After all, a garage roller door is there to protect your possessions, do not compromise on security!

3. Cracks and weak spots

Quality garage roller doors will never suffer from this problem. However far too often suppliers will compromise on quality to ensure a large mark-up. Do not be afraid to ask questions, ask what materials it is made from and whether it has had a proper finish to secure it from the elements.

4. Is it electric? Remote? Motorised?

Some garage doors are operated remotely and use a motor to open and close. Quality motors are important as it is not uncommon for them to over heat and cause a potential fire hazard. Watch out for dodgy motors and dangerous cabling for electric doors. Faulty motors can cause an unimaginable amount of hassle for any garage owner and therefore should be checked carefully!
